Electronic Music: Scenes, Genres and Transitions
Often reduced to a single style or club music, electronic music actually encompasses a wide range of practices, aesthetics, and histories. This workshop offers an accessible introduction to better understand what is referred to today as “electronic music.”
We will explore club, rave, and underground cultures and examine major movements and genres such as techno, house, ambient, electro, trance, bass music, hyperpop, and more. The aim is to provide clear reference points, spark curiosity, and offer tools to better listen to, program, or support these musical forms.
We will then address environmental challenges within electronic music, sharing insights from the Courts Circuits program, with a focus on low-carbon and pooled touring experiments.
