Strasbourg Music Week SACEM, SABAM, GEMA , SUISA - Collecting Rights Societies:  what tools to address new challenges?

Thomas Vanlishout is Account Manager Music at Sabam. 
In charge of the French-speaking Belgian repertoire, he is in direct and constant contact with authors, composers and representatives of the music sector. 

Sabam is THE Belgian society of authors, composers and publishers that manages the rights of more than 41,000 members in 5 artistic fields: music, film & television, theatre & dance, visual arts and literature. In 2018, Sabam distributed a total of almost 115 million euros in copyright and supported more than 150 cultural events and 225 projects by its members via Sabam For Culture. Sabam has more than 250 employees based in Brussels, who work hard every day to defend the rights of authors. Sabam celebrated its centenary in 2022. 

After studying sociology and anthropology in Lausanne, Claudia Kempf worked as a production manager and assistant film director. On the job, she studied cultural management cultural and media management in Berlin. 
She has worked for over 20 years at SUISA and was editor-in-chief of swissdisc.ch, one of the first online platforms in the field of Swiss music production, and a founding member of Swiss Music Export. 
Since 2011, she has been in charge of SUISA's Members' Division, which deals with all aspects of rights management, member admission, information on accounting (Switzerland and abroad) and the documentation of works. 

SUISA is the cooperative of composers, lyricists and music publishers in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. 
Its more than 41,000 members include music creators from all fields. In Switzerland and Liechtenstein, SUISA represents a musical repertoire two million music authors worldwide. It grants the use of this global repertoire to more than 120,000 clients. In 2017, SUISA founded, with the American music organisation SESAC, the joint venture Mint Digital Services. Mint Digital Services is responsible for the international billing and administration of licenses granted to music suppliers, administration of licences granted to online music providers on behalf of SESAC,
its subsidiary,The Harry Fox Agency and SUISA. It also offers its services to publishing houses.
SUISA employs some 220 people at its Zurich, Lausanne and Lugano sites,SUISA generates sales of over CHF 190 million. As a non-profit organisation, it organisation, it redistributes licence revenues to music authors and publishers, after deduction of administrative costs.
 

Initially a guitarist/author/composer, Juan Tamayo joined the French subsidiary of the publisher Chrysalis Music in 2004 as a "synchro" manager. 
He took over as general manager in 2007. In 2011, Juan joined Wagram, a company for which he created the Alva label with the aim of developing exclusively French-speaking artists. 
Although the venture was short-lived, Alva contributed to the comeback of Cali with the album "Vernet les Bains," praised by both critics and the public. Juan Tamayo is also co-president of the EIFEIL federation.

Since 2017, he has held the position of senior artistic director within the French subsidiary of the publisher Budde Music Group.
